NT police awards uncovered in racism review too 'offensive' for public release, ICAC says

The Northern Territory's anti-corruption watchdog says it has discovered awards which it has deemed too offensive to release to the public, as it conducts a joint review into racism with the Northern Territory Police Force. Commissioner Riches says one of the certificates is titled the "2007 Shit BBQ Award", and bears the words "the most COON like BBQ ever!!" NT ICAC says police awards 'racist' Photo shows NT ICAC commissioner Michael Riches sitting at a desk in his office. Commissioner Riches says he was sent these awards one day after making his previous public statement asking anyone with information to come forward. Of the roughly 20 people he has spoken to about the TRG awards, Commissioner Riches says their recollections of the period between 2007 and 2016 are "inconsistent".
