Dutch business bankruptcies up 47 percent since January; The worst start since 2017

NL Times

Some 1,392 businesses, institutions and organizations were declared bankrupt since January 1, an increase of about 47 percent over the same period in 2023. “From May 2022, the number of bankruptcies was continuously higher than in the same month a year earlier.” Comparing annual periods is necessary to get a handle on current trends, because figures can fluctuate greatly from month-to-month for a variety of reasons, the CBS said. The number of bankruptcies as a ratio against total numbers of businesses per sector was found in transportation and storage last month. It is the highest number of personal bankruptcies for the start of a year since 2021, when 136 people went into bankruptcy.
