Man arrested over alleged Australia Day Nazi symbol display protests bail conditions
ABCA member of the National Socialist Network arrested in Adelaide's CBD during an Australia Day march has told a court that he will "fight" his charges "to the end" and that the "presumption of innocence is dead". Mr Wells continued to tell the court he has the "presumption of innocence" and that he should not be punished before going to trial. On Friday, defence lawyer Travis Moran, for Mr Wells, told the court "one of the reasons for refusing to sign the bail agreement" was that he did not agree with the proposed conditions. Wells apologises to court Magistrate Sale adjourned the matter to early next week, instructing Mr Moran he would "keep an open mind" as to his decision despite Mr Wells's outburst in court. "Mr Moran, you might want to convey to Mr Wells that whilst some of the things he's saying are true, a punishment shouldn't come before a finding of guilt, these sort of outbursts we just heard don't necessarily speak in favour of me granting bail," he said.
