Most Australians are able to call for help when they're in trouble, but Deb Donation lives in constant fear for the safety of her community in remote Western Australia, where mobile phone reception is non-existent. Key points: The community has been negotiating the location of the mobile tower with Telstra and the government for a year Residents are unable to call triple-0 in an emergency and have to find a way back to the community to use a landline Kupungarri has been without a nurse since mid-December and the closest hospital is four hours by road Ms Donation is a Ngarinyin woman and the chair of Kupungarri community, one of the most remote Aboriginal communities in the state. Kupungarri Aboriginal Corporation chair Deb Donation says community members can't access essential services or call triple-0. Access to essential services "Some people go without payments or can't get access to their documents or MyGov due to not being able to get access to their SMS," Ms Donation said.
