Industry body WoolProducers says if state governments had more cohesive biosecurity rules, they wouldn't need to consider making expensive electronic ear tags compulsory. The Victorian government's tender for between 40,000 and 10 million radio frequency identification tags closed a fortnight ago, after a state government report recommended electronic identification tagging for sheep and goats.
