Tiruppur Corporation seeks approval for bio-CNG plant in Perunthozhuvu village

The Hindu

The Tiruppur City Municipal Corporation has sought permission from the District Collector to use government-owned Bhoodan land in Perunthozhuvu village to build a bio-CNG plant capable of processing 200 metric tonnes. Of the 573.55 metric tonnes of solid waste generated each day across the 60 wards, the Corporation processes 165 metric tonnes. The civic body also operates a bio-gas power plant with a capacity to generate 825 kWh of electricity per day by processing 10 metric tonnes of wet waste, and its residue is used as manure or blended into organic compost. Six dry waste recovery centres process thirty metric tonnes every day.
