Maha Police seeks more evidence against ex-Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh and others in extortion case
India TodayThe Maharashtra Police has sought more evidence into the allegations of extortion levelled by Mumbai-based businessman Sonu Jalan against several Thane police officers including former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh, Pradeep Sharma, and Rajkumar Kothmire. Sonu Jalan has also accused Param Bir Singh and senior police officer Pradeep Sharma of extorting over Rs 3.5 crore from him after charging him in a fake case. "Parag Sanghvi called me to his residence and said that Param Bir Singh is ready to return the extorted money if I only name Pradeep Sharma in my complaint to the CID and leave him out of it," Sonu Jalan said, adding, "I have a recording of the conversation and have bought this to the CID's notice." ANIL DESHMUKH ON EXTORTION ALLEGATION AGAINST PARAM BIR SINGH Param Bir Singh, in his letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, had accused former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh of corruption, extortion and interference in police investigations.
