
Explore Possibility Of Having Separate Traffic Police Cadre Or Increase Existing Force: Gujarat High Court Orally Tells State Govt
Live LawThe Gujarat High Court on Friday orally asked the state government to explore the possibility of a having a separate cadre of the Traffic Police Force in the state or increase the force in the main cadre while identifying them as traffic police. During the hearing the amicus curiae appointed in the matter, advocate PR Abhichandani, referred to the high court's earlier order and said that the court had raised certain issues regarding cadre for traffic police, had called for progress on appointments for filing up vacancies and the implementation of the Helmet rule; it had also asked the court's Registrar General to also submit a report about the implementation of the circular on the same. The court at this stage addressed advocate general Kamal Trivedi appearing for the state and said, "You don't have a separate cadre for traffic police". Before parting the court orally said, "Also explore possibility of, if not a separate traffic police cadre, then in the main cadre increasing force while identifying them as traffic police".
