Lloyd: Jacoby Brissett’s admirable performance, pancake block and path ahead for Browns

The play that might best encapsulate Jacoby Brissett’s time in Cleveland had nothing at all to do with his quarterback abilities. Brissett received the game ball after the Browns’ stunning 23-17 overtime win over the Bucs and rightfully so. The Browns didn’t know at the time how long they needed Brissett, but they knew they needed someone who was a leader, who could unite a locker room that deeply fractured last season in part because of the quarterback. He’s turning a 4-7 football team back to Watson, who will enter the storm when he starts for the Browns next week in Houston and every game thereafter as long as he’s healthy. I wonder if the outcome would’ve been any different against the Atlanta Falcons or Los Angeles Chargers with Garoppolo, games that were lost because of crippling interceptions Brissett threw at the end of those games.
