Braves’ Michael Harris II: Bigger, stronger, aiming for more after storybook rookie season

NORTH PORT, Fla. — He was sturdy before, particularly in his lower half. Legendary former Braves center fielder Andruw Jones once won 10 consecutive Gold Gloves with Atlanta, and Snitker is among the many who’ve compared Harris to Jones, saying he’s the closest thing they’ve seen to “AJ” since the Hall of Fame candidate left Atlanta. “I don’t see him changing,” said Braves shortstop Vaughn Grissom, another midseason rookie arrival in 2022, who is practically inseparable from Harris at the ballpark. That’s pretty cool.” Harris spent much of his offseason working out with Marquis Grissom, another Atlanta native and former Braves Gold Glove center fielder. Marquis Grissom was interviewed and featured prominently in a short documentary “Michael Harris II: The Dream and the Journey,” which debuted this month on the Braves’ Facebook site and YouTube channel.
