Hyderabad: Grandson confesses to murder of industrialist, citing humiliation and asset dispute

Deccan Chronicle

Hyderabad: Kilaru Keerthi Teja, grandson of Velamati Chandrashekara Janardhana Rao, 86, the head of the Veljan Group, has confessed to murdering his grandfather due to long-standing disputes over asset distribution and alleged personal humiliation. According to police sources, Teja claimed that his grandfather repeatedly demeaned him, referring to him as a "beggar" both at home and in the office. "The constant humiliation and the feeling of being sidelined led me to decide to kill him," Teja stated, according to police. Following the murder, Teja attempted to conceal evidence by burning his clothes and the knife at an isolated location near Yellammaguda in BS Makta, police confirmed.
