Orthodox Church raises concerns over delay in rehabilitating Wayanad landslide victims
The HinduThe Episcopal Synod of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church on Wednesday sought immediate action to rehabilitate the victims of the landslides that devastated Mundakkai and Chooralmala villages in Wayanad. Noting that 210 days had passed since the disaster, the synod expressed concern over the Kerala government’s lack of response to the Church’s proposal to construct 50 houses for the affected families. “With no proper response from the government, the synod meeting on Wednesday deliberated on identifying land independently to proceed with the construction,” a statement read. Sea sand-mining The meeting also voiced concerns over the struggles faced by coastal communities, including those protesting in Munambam over the Waqf land issue.
