Accused serial killer Steven Hainsworth threatened to add to tally, court told

ABC

A man accused of murdering three people allegedly threatened a fellow inmate last year, telling him he would make him "number four", a court has heard. Steven Leslie Hainsworth, 49, is standing trial in South Australia's Supreme Court charged with the murders of 77-year-old Phyllis Harrison in 1998, 64-year-old Beverley Hanley in 2010 and 55-year-old Stephen Hugh Newton in 2011. A court previously heard Mr Newton's badly decomposed body was found at his Mount Gambier home on November 4, 2011, covered in rubbish and cannabis plants. Mr Kennett, who used to live in Mount Gambier, said he had been to Mr Hainsworth's partner's house around the time Mr Newton went missing.
