Andhra Intermediate Board proposes major reforms to reduce exam stress and align with national standards
The HinduThe Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education has proposed removal of board exam for Inter first year, to reduce stress on students and to align its exam pattern with that of boards in other states as well as the Central Board of Secondary Education. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, BIE Secretary Kritika Shukla said the proposal is to handle first year exams internally and conduct board exams only for final-year students. Ms. Kritika said the focus areas of the proposed reforms are syllabus, subject combinations, exam patterns and exam stress. Changes in exam pattern Ms. Kritika said that in alignment with the CBSE marking system, balanced emphasis will be laid on theory and internal/practical assessments. Moreover, removal of first year Board exams will ease pressure on students, and modernised exam patterns and internal assessments will foster critical thinking and application skills.
