Tamil Nadu MP calls Indian Navy 'lame duck' over Sri Lanka's attacks on fishermen

A Rajya Sabha MP from Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, a regional political party from Tamil Nadu, strongly criticised the Indian Navy during the Zero Hour. Party leader Vaiko called the Navy a “lame duck” while raising concerns over the continued harassment of Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy. For what reason is our Navy sitting like a lame duck in the ocean?” He also alleged that no day passes without the Sri Lankan Navy attacking Tamil Nadu fishermen and accused the Indian Navy of cooperating with Sri Lanka in these incidents. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman responded to Vaiko in Parliament, urging him to reconsider his statement that the Indian Navy was colluding with the Sri Lankan Navy. Is it fair to say that the Indian Navy collaborates with the Sri Lankan Navy to harass our fishermen?” Sitharaman said.
