Exit polls predict hung assembly in UP

After the sixth phase of polling, two exit polls on Thursday predicted a hung assembly with the Bahujan Samaj Party emerging as the single largest party. While the Star exit poll has projected BSP getting 140, NDTV predicted the BSP’s tally could vary between 120 and 130 seats. The Congress was likely to get 28 seats according to the Star poll but the NDTV survey gave the party between 35 and 45 seats. For the BJP too, Star’s exit poll had good news to offer with the saffron party projected to get 17 seats in this round. However, the NDTV survey gave 19 to 23 seats for the BSP and claimed that SP would be the second largest party in this round with 16 to 20 seats.
