No-confidence motion moved against Zirakpur MC president
Hindustan TimesThe Punjab and Haryana high court has asked the Mohali deputy commissioner to act as an administrator to oversee and supervise the day-to-day workings of the Zirakpur municipal council after a no-confidence motion was moved against the MC president. The son of Deepinder Singh, a Congress candidate from Dera Bassi in 2022 assembly elections, Dhillon was appointed Zirakpur MC president in 2021 after the Congress won 23 seats in the House. MC president Udayvir Singh Dhillon of the Congress had moved the HC hours after 21 out of the total 31 councillors moved a no-confidence motion against him on Monday morning. The July 5 meeting was attended by six other members of the MC, apart from Dhillon, and it was decided that a no-confidence motion won’t be passed.
