8 dead, many injured after bus falls off bridge into drain in Punjab's Bathinda
India TodayAt least eight people, including a two-year-old girl, were killed, and several others were injured after a bus fell into a drain in Punjab's Bathinda on Friday. Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Showkat Ahmad Parray was quoted as saying by news agency ANI that five out of the eight people have been identified and three are yet to be identified. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the incident and announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the people killed in the incident and Rs 50,000 for the family of the injured. I express my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and pray to God for the speedy recovery of all those injured in this accident," she said in a post on X. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed condolences over the accident.
