The rise and fall of Queensland's LNP Leader Deb Frecklington
ABCDeb Frecklington has fallen from the LNP's top job after announcing she would stand aside as Opposition Leader following a bruising electoral defeat. "It promoted a sense of disunity right before an election campaign — that is never good," Professor Harris Rimmer said. Professor Harris Rimmer said the LNP's decision to try and differentiate themselves on border control "played against them" and the later attempt to reframe never came across as credible. Professor Harris Rimmer said this probably added to Labor receiving a significant "gratitude vote" from older Queenslanders but said Labor also had to bear the responsibility for any negative COVID events and increasing unemployment. "It was quite surprising how confidently she said that on election night," Professor Harris Rimmer said.
