Special assembly session on Feb 5; set to approve caste census, SC sub-categorisation

Hyderabad:The state government has decided to hold a special session of the Legislative Assembly on February 5 to approve reports on caste census and sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes into four groups. Speaking to media persons after the meeting, BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that the reports on caste census and SC sub-categorisation will be submitted to the cabinet sub-committee on Sunday. Revanth Reddy will convene a cabinet meeting on the morning of February 5 to discuss and approve the reports on caste census and SC sub-categorisation. The government wants to enhance reservations for BCs in the upcoming gram panchayat elections based on the caste census data as well as on the report of the Dedicate BC Commission, which was constituted to recommend enhancement of reservations for BCs.
