There is nowhere safe for children to go in Gaza
Al JazeeraBy ordering families to move, Israel is not ensuring that they survive, but merely giving them the option to die another way, elsewhere. These stories of untold suffering are sadly the norm in Gaza, where 1.8 million people – almost 80 percent of the population – are now homeless and seeking refuge wherever they can. Rather than ensuring the safety and survival of families, Israel’s orders to move are just giving them the option to die another way, elsewhere. The anticipated expansion of military operations in southern cities like Khan Younis would have catastrophic humanitarian consequences for children, compounded by the current restrictions and impediments that prevent us from doing our job. There is only one right thing to do: secure a definitive ceasefire to protect all civilians, and unfettered access for humanitarians to deliver assistance to all children in Gaza.
