MC Mary Kom to lead Oversight Committee to probe allegations against WFI president
The HinduUnion Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Monday announced that multiple World champion and Olympic medallist boxer M. C. Mary Kom will head the Oversight Committee formed by the Government to investigate the charges levelled by some prominent wrestlers against Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and others. Olympic medallist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, shuttler Trupti Murgunde, who is a Mission Olympic Cell member, former Target Olympic Podium Scheme CEO Commander Rajesh Rajagopalan and former Executive Director of Sports Authority of India Radhica Sreeman are the other members of the committee. “This Mary Kom-led five-member committee will hear each side and investigate the serious charges levelled by the wrestlers and will submit its report within a month. Mary and Yogeshwar are also part of the seven-member committee president and Indian Olympic Association treasurer Sahdev Yadav, IOA joint secretary Alaknanda Ashok and advocates Talish Ray and Shlok Chandra) formed by the IOA to look into the wrestlers’ allegation.
