India blocks over 59,000 WhatsApp accounts linked to online fraud in 2024
India TodayThe Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, a part of the Ministry of Home Affairs, has taken significant steps to combat digital fraud and protect citizens from cybercrimes. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, also emphasised the importance of the 'Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System,' launched in 2021 under the I4C. This centre is a collaborative hub where representatives from major banks, financial institutions, payment aggregators, Telecom Service Providers, IT intermediaries, and law enforcement agencies from both the central government and state governments work together. With these initiatives, the Indian government is taking a comprehensive approach to fight digital fraud and cybercrime, providing citizens with the tools and support needed to stay safe online.
