Armed Personnel Deployed at Checkposts Decry Poor Amenities

Hyderabad: While officials are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a peaceful election, armed personnel deployed for election bandobast are facing issues at checkposts and at the accommodation centres provided for them. A soldier deployed at a checkpost in Hyderabad told Deccan Chronicle that the accommodation centre provided to them only has a good drinking water facility. We are dependent on the open areas near the checkposts if any are available or we have to request nearby shops or commercial spaces to use their spaces,” said an ASI at a checkpost in Medchal Malkajgiri district. “Though the checkposts are well illuminated, availability of reflector jackets and batons would help the commuters to know about vehicle checks,” said another officer.
