Bar Council Of West Bengal Resolves To Provide Financial Assistance To Distressed Lawyers [Read Order]
Live LawThe Bar Council of West Bengal has decided to provide financial assistance to needy lawyers who have been adversely affected due to suspension of court work amid the lockdown. During the hearing, a division bench of Chief Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan and Justice Arjit Banerjee perused the affidavit-in-opposition filed by the Bar Council and observed that it had resolved to assist financially unstable lawyers. "It appears from the Bar Council's affidavit-in-opposition that the Council has taken a resolution to make available financial assistance to those learned lawyers who are in extreme need thereof," the court said. The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has also resolved to extend financial assistance to all those needy advocates, who are unable to meet their day to day expenses due to the lockdown and consequent suspension of court work.
