Why there is still no sign of Congress's much-touted empowered group

India Today

It is a fortnight since Congress announced the setting up of an Empowered Action Group to deal with the grand old party’s political challenges ahead of the 2024 elections. However, there is no sign of its composition, raising doubts within and outside the Congress about whether the EAG would be formed before the party’s much-touted ‘Navsankalp Chintan Shivar’ scheduled to be held at Udaipur, Rajasthan between May 13-15, 2022. Significantly, AICC’s interim president Sonia Gandhi had announced the formation of EAG when she was negotiating ace poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s induction into the Congress. They include the report on organisational polls by Ram Niwas Mirdha, Manmohan Singh’s report on party funds, the PA Sangma and Sam Pitroda reports on modernising the organisation and Pranab Mukherjee’s report on organisational affairs.
