State police to introduce CEIR equipment to track lost mobile phones

Hyderabad: Director General of Police Anjani Kumar, on Tuesday announced that a tracking system called Central Equipment Identity Register would be introduced to trace lost or stolen cell phones. Additional DGP Mahesh Bhagwat said that police officers were being trained on this system in 750 police stations. If someone comes to the police station regarding a lost cell phone, the receptionist should enter the details in the CEIR app, he said. The owners would need to upload the lost phone and IMEI numbers, company name, model and bill as also the date where the mobile was lost, state, district and police station complaint details.
