Riverina paralympians ready to race in Tokyo
ABCThe Riverina will be well represented at the Tokyo Paralympic with three athletes from the region competing. Key points: Ashley van Rijswijk from Tumut is ranked 4 th in the world and will swim in her first Paralympics Scott Reardon from Temora is the reigning 100m gold medallist in his class and will run in his 2nd Paralympics Former Albury athlete, Eliza Ault-Connell will compete in 3 events Ashley van Rijswijk Hailing from Tumut, the swimmer has been training in Wagga Wagga ahead of her first Paralympics. At 20 years old, Ashley van Rijswijk is ranked 4th in the world in the 100m breaststroke, but her father Craig van Rijswijk said she almost didn't make the Australian team. And coach Labara said "three years ago she came to me with reasonable times and achievable results and we discussed the next step" Mr Labara said Ashley had reasonable times when she first came to him three years ago, but it was her commitment and work ethic that made him realise she could make the Paralympics.
