Calling this a ‘historic achievement’, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that India is now placed among the select group of countries that possess such advanced military capabilities India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation achieved a historic feat as it successfully test-fired the nation’s maiden long-range hypersonic missile on Sunday. Developed indigenously by laboratories of the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex, Hyderabad, along with various other DRDO labs and industry partners, the missile was successfully test-fired off the coast of Odisha. The missile, designed to carry various payloads for ranges greater than 1,500 km for Armed forces, put India in the group of select nations having capabilities of such critical and advanced military technologies, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said.
