Bhopal's Bhojtal lake on verge of drying up, water crisis looms

India TV News

Bhopal Mayor Anand Sharma has convened an all-party meet as the water level in the city's Bhojtal lake is inching towards dead storage level. Owing to less than normal rain and scorching heat, water levels at Bhojtal have rapidly dipped, raising concerns of water shortage in the areas of the city which depend on it for water supply. Speaking over the looming water crisis, Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma confirmed the water crisis due to lack of rains in the area. "I have met state minister Dr. Govind Singh ji today and demanded a Rs 100 crore package to tackle the situation; he said he'll talk to the Chief Minister," he said.
