Westworld showrunners Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan told Variety that George RR Martin, the author behind Game of Thrones, has long supported the idea of a crossover between the two shows. “We’re also friendly with George RR Martin, and George had consistently since the first season said, ‘We’ve got to do a tie-in with Game of Thrones,’” Nolan told the publication. So George had always been pitching the crossover show.” Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and DB Weiss, as well as Drogon the CGI dragon, made a cameo on Westworld.
