Chandigarh: In view of a nationwide strike called by various employees’ unions on Friday, the Haryana government has directed the heads of departments, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to have a contingency plan prepared so that the functioning of offices and essential services to the public do not suffer. The major decisions taken by the Centre include fixation of minimum wage at Rs 350 per day for unskilled non-agricultural workers for ‘C’ category areas, raising it from the existing Rs 246 per day. Ten central trade unions have called a one-day nationwide strike tomorrow against the government effecting “anti-worker” changes in labour laws and its “indifference” towards their demands.
