Podblanicka Tretra athletics: Shivpal, Vipin and Annu back in form
The HinduReturning to competition after more than a month's break, javelin thrower Shivpal Singh was back in the 80m range in the Podblanicka Tretra athletics meet at Vlasim, Czech Republic, on Friday. Meanwhile, Asian women's javelin throw silver medallist Annu Rani was also back in the 60m range, finishing second with 60.87m, behind Japan's Haruka Kitaguchi, the World University Games silver medallist and former under-18 World champion, who won with 61.94m. After being consistent around 60m during the first half of the year, Rani's form had dipped disappointingly and in her last meet on July 9 she had slumped to 54.54m and had been away from competition for nearly 50 days before Friday's event. So, we may be doing one more competition tomorrow.” Meanwhile under-20 World women's 400m champion Hima Das, running the 100m for the first time this year, won the event in 11.74s.
