Devendra Fadnavis's big claim: 'Urban naxals' involved in Rahul Gandhi's yatra
India TodayMaharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has alleged that "urban naxal" outfits were involved in the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra, and they held a meeting in Nepal to hatch a conspiracy to destabilise BJP-led governments. "On November 15, a meeting was held in Kathmandu that was attended by some organisations which took part in the Bharat Jodo Yatra and issues like opposing EVMs, and introduction of ballot papers in Maharashtra and BJP-ruled states were discussed," the Chief Minister told the Assembly. "On February 18, 2014, during the Manmohan Singh government, the Centre mentioned 72 frontal organisations in the Lok Sabha, out of which 7 were part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra," he further said. Fadnavis's claim comes at a time when the government presented the Maharashtra Special Public Security Act, 2024, in the Assembly to deal with "urban naxalism".
