ICC backs cancellation of New Zealand-Bangladesh Test in wake of Christchurch mosque shootings

The International Cricket Council Friday said it "fully supports" the cancellation of the third Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh in Christchurch after the visiting side had a narrow escape from a shooting attack at a mosque there. The attack on the Masjid Al Noor mosque in Hagley Park killed several people, the media in New Zealand reported. Both teams, staff and match officials are safe and the ICC fully supports the decision to cancel the Test match," ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden said the attack was an "unprecedented act of violence" and "one of New Zealand's darkest days".
