Two New Polio Cases Detected in Sindh, Pakistan

Pakistan reports two new polio cases, bringing the tally to 39 this year. The cases were confirmed in the Sindh province, marking the first polio cases in the province since April. The latest cases are a girl and a boy, and come after four cases were reported a day earlier. Pakistan has reported 39 cases of poliovirus this year, with 20 reported from Balochistan, 12 from Sindh, five from Khyber Pakhtun­khwa and one each from Punjab and Islamabad. The prime minister has acknowledged the spread of the virus across the country but noted that a strategy has been developed to eradicate the crippling disease by June 2025.
