Scots face MORE travel misery over Hogmanay period as warnings issued for torrential rain and heavy snow

Scots heading home or to family and friends for Hogmanay are facing travel misery today after two yellow weather warnings were issued for torrential rain and heavy snow. The further disruption comes days after Storm Gerrit caused mayhem across the country, with drivers trapped on blocked roads and a host of train services halted. If you are travelling on Saturday it’s worth taking a closer look at those warnings.’ The alerts come as people begin to travel for Hogmanay, with roads and public transport set to be busy as Scots set off to see friends and family before celebrating the arrival of the New Year. Further disruption is predicted days after Storm Gerrit caused mayhem across the country ‘It’s important that anyone that has to travel during the yellow warning periods plans their journey ahead of time.’ The Central Belt will escape the worst of today’s weather, with neither Glasgow or Edinburgh covered by the alerts.
