Ukraine renewed its appeal for fighter jets to help frustrate Moscow’s invasion as senior defence officials said the fight against Russia was approaching a critical stage. “It is something that will take time and it is best done behind closed doors.” Slovakia has said it is willing to discuss sending Soviet MIG-29 planes to help replace losses to Ukraine’s airforce.
