Engineering students can now opt for course on IPR
Startup ecosystems that nurture young talent have spurred students and young graduates into experimenting with innovative ideas and inventing devices. With this in mind, Visvesvarya Technological University has decided to start an online course for engineering students on intellectual property rights. University authorities feel this will help students secure patents for many of their projects. The online certificate course — jointly conducted by the VTU and Origiin IP Academy — will have 10 learning modules that can be completed in a maximum duration of three months. If we are trained in obtaining patents, we can apply for patents for our work.” An official said that in the coming years, if they find many students filing patents, they can develop a list of patents obtained and lecturers can check the list to ensure that the projects are not duplicated.
