Corrupt official breaks down in face of investigation
The official newspaper of the CPC Central Committee for Discipline Inspection has detailed how a corrupt official broke down after being taken away for questioning by inspectors. During a meeting held by the city's discipline watchdog to warn the bureau's cadres on April 26, 2016, serious discipline violations committed by one of Chen's subordinates were announced. The report described how the meeting room fell silent suddently and Chen's "eyes were full of terror, his face turning pale, and his body trembling". Honest Outlook, an anti-corruption themed magazine, quoted an anonymous discipline inspection official as saying that "corrupt officials tend to have low vigilance during meetings" and most of them would "cooperate" when taken away by enforcement officers to avoid embarrassment in front of other people.
