Lucknow Court Directs FIR Registration On Ex-IPS Officer Amitabh Thakur's Plea Against 'Hateful' Social Media Posts
Live LawA Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Uttar Pradesh Lucknow district has directed the registration of an FIR under appropriate sections against alleged social media posts, accused of posting hateful content with the intent to disturb communal harmony. The direction was issued by Court of Special CJM, Lucknow Kuwar Mitresh Singh Kushwaha, an application filed by former IPS officer and presently Azad Adhikar Sena National President, Amitabh Thakur, under Section 173 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. Before the CJM Court, Thakur submitted that he had sent an application to the concerned police official regarding the above incident, but no action was taken on the same. Therefore, keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the case, the Court, allowing the application, directed the Gomtinagar Police Station, District-Lucknow, to register a case under relevant sections, conduct an investigation as per rules and inform the court about the result of the investigation.
