Nagarjunasagar set to host aerodrome under Udan scheme
HYDERABAD: Nagarjunasagar is likely to host a water aerodrome under the Centre’s Udan scheme, with a provision of Rs 20 crore set for the purpose under the ‘revival of unserved and underserved airports’ scheme, as per civil aviation MoS V.K. Responding to a question raised by Nalgonda MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy in the Lok Sabha, the minister of state said that the ministry of civil aviation launched the regional connectivity scheme Udan in 2016 to stimulate regional air connectivity and make air travel affordable to the masses. “Adilabad, Aleru and Kagazpur airports/airstrips are available in the tentative list of unserved airport in the Udan scheme document while Jakranpally, Palvancha, Mehbubnagar, Mamnoor and Basantnagar airstrips are not listed in the tentative list of unserved airports in the Udan document,” he said. “However, these airstrips may be included in the list on the request of the state government of Telangana, as per the provisions of Udan scheme document,” he said.
