1.3 lakh pilgrims took the Sathram route to Sabarimala this year

The traditional forest path to the Sabarimala temple through the Sathram village, just 12 kilometres from Vandiperiyar in Idukki, witnessed a footfall of nearly 1.3 lakh pilgrims this year. “This season, 3,759 pilgrims returned through the Sathram route from Sabarimala,” said the official. According to officials, the total number of pilgrims who trekked to the hill shrine through the Sathram route in the 2024 pilgrim season was 1.42 lakh devotees. “But the trekking through the forest route was a memorable experience,” said Vivek Narayanan, who trekked the Sathram route to Sabarimala recently.
