MPs told to fight for Tamil Nadu’s financial rights
Deccan ChronicleChennai: DMK president and Chief Minister M K Stalin urged his party MPs to fight for the State’s financial rights in Parliament and secure adequate funds by highlighting the financial crisis faced by the State in their speeches. Chairing a meeting of the MPs at their party headquarters on Friday, ahead of the start of the next Parliament session, Stalin cautioned them about the BJP desperately seeking to implement its own agenda in the country despite losing its original vim. Upholding the States’ rights, winning the State governments’ demands and addressing the needs of the people in the constituency should be the prime duties of each and every MP who should carry them out in a systematic manner, he said Pointing out that the State was being deprived of the benefits of the major development schemes of the Union Government, he asked the MPs to fight for bringing the big ticket projects to the State. Calling upon them to give due respect to the party district secretaries and other secretaries in the party and also invite them to their functions, he said, insisting on the spending of the MP’s Local Area Development Fund judiciously and effectively.
