Why BJP is banking on PM Modi's star power in last lap of Karnataka poll campaign
India TodayAs the assembly election campaign in Karnataka enters its final phase, the incumbent BJP is attempting to steal a march over rivals Congress and the Janata Dal by spinning a narrative around the charisma and development mantra of campaigner-in-chief Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After Modi addressed party workers virtually on April 26, the state BJP planned a blitzkrieg by drawing an aggressive campaign itinerary for the PM. Till Modi's entry into the campaign, the Congress had done well to question the BJP on allegations of corruption, inefficiency in governance and was trying to build on the anti-incumbency and factionalism in the BJP. The people of Karnataka will give them a befitting reply on May 10," Modi said, trying to blunt the Congress's allegations of corruption in government projects in Karnataka and the party's "40 per cent commission" barb.
