Credit to KCR into Making State No. 1: Suresh Reddy
Deccan ChronicleSuresh Reddy, the BRS Parliamentary Party leader on Tuesday called for tightening of the loose ends in the anti-defection laws, and bring in delimitation in a manner that does justice to Telangana. Speaking during the discussion on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha, Suresh Reddy said while delimitation is welcome, the process “should not punish states like Telangana. States like us contribute to the growth of the country and should not be punished, just because we have lesser population.” The BRS leader hailed the Constitution, and cited Article 3 of the Constitution under whose provisions Telangana emerged as a state marking “the culmination of 12 years of struggle by our leader K. Chandrashekar Rao with all sections of the society joining in,” many sacrificing their lives. The mass awakening, Suresh Reddy said, “pressurised the Government of India” into granting statehood, and added that he also thanks the Congress and the BJP at the Centre which sensed the feelings of the people.
