Stalin Asks Rahul Gandhi to Forge TN-like Front Against BJP at National Level
News 18Salem : DMK president M K Stalin on Sunday requested Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to stitch an alliance against the BJP at the national level, like the combine led by his party in Tamil Nadu and accused the Centre of unleashing a ‘chemical’ and ‘cultural’ attack against the state. Also, the ensuing Assembly polls would be a ‘washout’ for the BJP in Tamil Nadu in view of his party led Secular Progressive Alliance, he claimed and cited opinion polls that favoured his party-led combine. Addressing Rahul as brother, Stalin said the Congress MP had told him not to address him as ‘sir.’ According to the Election Commission data, seven national parties together secured 69 per cent votes in the 2019 LS polls which includes the BJP’s 37.76 per cent, Congress party’s 19.7 per cent, CPI’s 0.59 per cent and CPI ’s 1.77 per cent. The DMK leader alleged ‘cultural attack’ by ‘imposition’ of Hindi and Sanskrit, the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test and filling vacancies in Tamil Nadu by recruiting people belonging to northern states.
