KCR not pursuing new airport plans seriously: Kishan Reddy

HYDERABAD: Union tourism minister G. Kishan Reddy has expressed disappointment with the Telangana government for not pursuing new airports in the state despite the Union government assuring all assistance for the projects. In a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, Reddy recalled that it was on October 6, 2021, that the civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had written to the state government, which was yet to respond to the offer. Reddy said that the progress on construction of new airports in Telangana was bare minimum and the state has not even pursued regulatory permissions to begin operations at airports where the required minimum facilities were available. The minister said that the AAI-owned airport in Warangal was in a dilapidated condition and the state should take the initiative to acquire 22.7 acres for phase one of the revival project, and be prepared to provide another 333.86 acres for phase two.
