Latest From Donald Trump's Presidency: Live Updates

The National Science Foundation has rehired dozens of employees it fired, with some saying their initial job offers were not honored amid the chaotic reshuffling. An NSF spokesperson confirmed Monday that 84 probationary employees are being reinstated, referring to people who have held their jobs for a year or less. The agency is scrambling to bring its people back after a federal judge last week ordered the Office of Personnel Management – the human resources agency of the federal government – to inform several agencies that it had no authority to direct them to carry out mass firings. He said he’s in a group chat with other probationary NSF coworkers who were fired, and none have received notice of their jobs being reinstated. They got word last week that they’d be getting their jobs back, but it took time before they got official notice, per the NSF employee, and in some cases, they were told they couldn’t come back for at least a week due to scheduling for getting new badges and reissuing their access to tech systems.
