Staffers at govt-owned MRO seek review of order on promotions

The Hindu

Representatives of a union of contractual staff at the country’s biggest aircraft maintenance and repair organisation have demanded a review of a recent order delaying career progression for some staffers. Members of the All India Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Union met the CEO of the government-owned Air India Engineering Services Limited, Sharad Aggarwal, on Thursday to discuss the matter. An internal AIESL communiqué issued by the firm’s chief human resource officer on January 9 informed various departments that the order was based on a meeting of the AIESL’s board of directors held on September 5, 2023. The MRO employs nearly 5,000 skilled workers including aircraft maintenance engineers and aircraft technicians, which include FTEs and permanent government employees.
